Marshall Miles, CEO of Inventronics presented at the 14th China International Forum on Solid State Lighting (SSL CHINA) on November 3rd at the Hilton Beijing Capital Airport in Beijing China.
The conference, called “New Economy, New Driving Forces” gave industry experts the chance to discuss multi-dimensional developing opportunities for the LED industry.
Miles’ presentation focused on smart lighting and the benefits from implementation, problems that can arise and the Inventronics LED driver design that provides a solution to those challenges. Smart lighting provides enhanced energy savings, improved light quality, improved security and many other benefits. Technical solutions including external power supplies and relays are deficient for the current market as they require additional cost and size while also having to consider the input voltage.
Inventronics has created a solution to these problems by designing their Controls-Ready LED drivers. These drivers provide 12V always-on power to the controls, eliminating the need for a power supply. Their Dim-to-Off capability allows the sensor to turn the driver on/off electronically which eliminates the need for the relay. With this innovative design, smart lighting is much simpler, provides even more cost reductions and the failure rate is drastically reduced.
Smart lighting will continue to develop at a rapid pace and having a broad selection of tools is necessary in undertaking these applications. Some of the next steps Miles saw for this sector involve wireless network adapters with multiple inputs/outputs, having the ability to communicate with both the LED driver and sensor, LED drivers powering both devices, the ability to read more data onto the network and controlling multiples devices-including a corelated color temperature (CCT) tuner.
